My Bucket List

[First published 06 Dec 2009]

I’ve been meaning to write my own life list ever since. This desire has intensified further after watching a movie called “The Bucket List” over a year ago. I want to do this and that. Since I can’t complete the list offline, and burst of short-lived ideas come to mind at the most unexpected times, I finally gave in to the urge to write them down here as they arrive in my conscious mind.

Here are some of the things I want to accomplish in this lifetime. It’s an unordered list, and some of them may be achievable in a few years, some are too shallow, some are really my dreams from when I was young. As they say, live life to the fullest. There are many wonderful things in this world that you can explore.

  • Have a star named after me or something i like.
  • Publish a book or a “relevant” research material.
  • Learn to speak French and enjoy a month-long vacation in France.
  • Go on a backpacking European trip. First stop: Platform 9 3/4 in King’s Cross Station.
  • Volunteer in an international non-profit organization. I’ve done so in some local NGOs.
  • Learn the piano. And perhaps even the violin.
  • Start up my own company. Plans, plans…
  • See the northern lights (aurora borealis).  Aurora australis will do.
  • See Jason Mraz, John Mayer, and Josh Groban live in concert. This has to be ticked off SOON!
  • Watch a Broadway show in New York. Les Mis, Wicked, and Miss Saigon are on top of the list.
  • Go to the outer space (impossible). Or just go to NASA, or see the Large Hadron Collider.
  • Hear the Tabernacle Choir in Utah. I can also see the temple and attend the General Conference while there.
  • Hold a brain with my bare hands. And a heart too!
  • Bungee jumping! Sky diving is way too much for me.
  • Have my own network lab. I wanted a chem lab when I was younger.
  • A roomful of Macs. Not being a fangirl.
  • Diving at the Great Barrier Reef. Must learn to dive first.
  • Master the skies. I’m going stargazing, complete with equipment and stuff.
  • Visit the Magical World of Harry Potter in Florida. The Harry Potter Exhibition in Sydney is also good.
  • Hike to Mt. Kota Kinabalu. I’ve gotta start somewhere easy.
  • Have my own wand from Ollivander’s. Dragon heartstrings core.
  • Time travel. Ticked off when I crossed the international dateline.
  • Watch the first sunrise and the last sunset. The latter half already ticked off from AmSamoa (2011.11.06)
  • Visit all the 7 wonders of the world, new and old… (and more)
